Riverside hog roast in Henley on Thames

Posted in Uncategorized on September 3rd, 2010

George and Scott meanwhile had better weather on Friday evening in Henley on Thames. They served spit roasted pig and sirloin of beef to 300 people down by the river. While the meats slowly roasted they enjoyed the sights and sounds of the riverbank. The customers arrived by boat and car and were entertained in a marquee in the grounds of the club. After service George drove on down the M40 to deliver a machine for hire.

Fridays events

The weather didn’t cheer up much for Friday down in London and Claire and her team struggled with the elements in Teddington. This was a thank you event for the local P.T.A and we served spit roasted hog with caesar salad, tomato, red onion and basil salad, coleslaw and minted new potatoes. Once again all the food was eaten. Another successful event.

wet and windy Thursday for the hog roasters

Posted in Uncategorized on September 1st, 2010

A busy day on Thursday with a very early serving time of 11am.This necessitated leaving at 4.30am to start roasting at 6am! An awful wet and windy day as well. However all the food was polished off and greatly enjoyed by a group of employees at a recycling plant near Bedford. George and Scott returned to the depot wet through with piles of sopping napkins and tea towels and a very soaked gazebo.

weddings

We are currently receiving lots of enquiries for weddings next year. Lots of dates are very sought after so we would urge anyone tying the knot next year and looking to book a wedding package with a hog roast to do so sooner rather than later. Spitting pig really does offer a brilliant wedding if you want something relaxed and informal. You can still have all the canapés, starters and desserts etc but with a bit of a spectacle thrown in!

busy weekend for the hog roasters

Our latest serve time was 10pm on Saturday which made for a very long day as our team member had delivered a hire in London for 9.30am, returned to collect his goodies for the pig roast and beetled back off down the M40. Sunday was a quieter day with two events just needing spit roasted pig served in the usual bap with apple sauce and stuffing.

eventful Saturday

Saturday was an eventful day in other ways when one of the team ended up in casualty with a couple of stitches having managed to succeed in spiking their wrist while lifting the pig from the cold room! A Spitting Pig Central team went to North London with a sirloin of beef and a spit roasted pig. It was an extremely hot day and the meats were roasted right next to a hot tub. With the sun beating down it certainly looked inviting!

On Saturday we had a couple of events not too far from the depot. One was a silver wedding anniversary party held in a field behind the house for 100 people with a succulent roasted pig with apple sauce and stuffing served in a floured bap. Another team went not too far from home for a party with for 85 people. We served another spit roasted pig with salads and minted new potatoes. Desserts of chocolate fudge cake for the sweet toothed and fresh fruit salad followed the delicious pig roast.

lamb roast in Surrey

The weekend started early for the teams at Spitting Pig Central. We provided a lamb roast for 500 people in Surrey which required an awful lot of lamb, manpower and roasting machines! The food was well received and we returned not too late ready for the off again the next morning. Thank heavens for light mornings and the birds tweeting from 4.30am which makes getting up really early seem not quite so bad!

busy times for the Spitting pig central hog roasters

On Sunday one of our chefs went to Brackley to prepare a hog roast for a Christening. We served about 100 people with simple pork baps together with stuffing and apple sauce. Another team headed for the M40 and cooked a spit roasted pig for a 60th birthday party. As I write we are busy sorting out for a job on Thursday with roast lamb for 800 people. The weekend will then kick in again and all our teams here at Spitting Pig Central will be off on their travels again.

Also on Saturday we catered for a 18th birthday party near Aylesbury, and an evening wedding party for 110 people near Northampton. Both parties enjoyed our spit roasted hog together with apple sauce, crispy succulent crackling and stuffing served in a bap. Such an easy way to entertain a large crowd of people leaving the organisers free to enjoy their evening. If you need a little more then we can add salads and potatoes. Just ask for a price.
